UMO are from Portland, as you said, and the only thing I think anyone's really figured out to this point is that at least one of the guys from the Mint Chicks is involved. The sound on the UMO tracks isn't too far off from a handful of tracks on the last couple of Mint Chicks albums either (especially the last couple of songs on "Enemies"). The Mint Chicks are/were from New Zealand (hence the Flying Nun signing) but relocated to Portland a few years ago. So. This band really is great, innit?
