I Have All The Colors

Felix “You Are The One I Pick”

There is a distinct Moon Pix thing happening in this song, not simply in that Lucinda Chua’s voice somewhat recalls that of Chan Marshall, but in that it evokes the same sort of sad grey emptiness. There’s no solid center to the composition, and though the melodic lines that seem to float through the piece have rich, distinct tones, they sound as though they’ve been whittled down from thick branches to brittle twigs. This is pensive, lovely stuff; elliptical in structure and muted in emotional tone. The title is decisive and declarative, and though the lyrics express clear desire, the music is far more tentative. It’s not a question of commitment — this is more about putting what you want up against the probability of actually getting it, and shrinking a bit when your chances don’t look too great.

nice song. I kept wanting it to go somewhere big, but nice regardless. Thanks for sharing.

Is she morally repulsive like Chan Marshall? Because I’ve got other things to do if she is.

p.s. Awesome site(s) Matthew. If there was some way of reciprocating my love for them in a comment box I would.

    Morally repulsive?

She does have a lovely voice - it’s the tone at the back of the throat that she shares with Chan. You’re right that it’s muted in emotional tone. I disagree, however, on the implied comparison to Chan Marshall in this respect. Chan doesn’t do tentative. She hits it right in the gut, every time.

Yeah, what’s morally repulsive? The drinking problem? Stage antics? Murdering bunnies? What?

Firstly - my apologies to Lucinda Chua. I’m sure she’s lovely and I wish her all the best.

With regards to my rather impassioned reply, then morally dubious might have been a more diplomatic phrasing, but after seven years I’m losing patience (and faith).

If you aren’t aware of what happened Matthew (it’s long and complicated) - I won’t explain it here. I’ve wasted enough time on her as it is and I don’t intend to waste anymore. But she needs to realize that what she’s been doing is wrong. And she needs to realize it pretty damn quick. I don’t care how much you want to understand somebody - manipulation, lying and deception doesn’t help.

Sorry again for this - it was the wrong place. I’m sure it comes across as utterly bizarre. And yes Ezra Koenig should totally rock the shit out of Oxford Comma next time he plays it — stage antics and binge drinking I have no moral qualms with. Bunny murdering is something I’ve fortunately never encountered.

I wasnt sure at first, but after the third listen im in. Definitely hear shades of Moon Pix here, which took a while to sink in too.
