Ugh, I am so jealous. I've seen them twice, and all I wanted was to hear "The Past Is A Grotesque Animal," which they did not play either time. I bet that song kills live.

One of the best things about OM shows, I think, is that they offer a renewed perspective on songs I dismissed when I heard them on the album. Before this show I always skipped past Cato As A Pun but now it's rising up the list of favorite OM songs. If that makes sense at all. The same thing happened the last time, but with I Was Never Young.

Kevin, I did see Janelle Monae, and she was pretty amazing. I'm sorry I didn't get around to writing about it, but it was hard enough finishing this post.

I saw them last night, what a fucking show that was. I feel really jealous of all the young kids in the crowd; I'm not old by any stretch of the imagination but I wish I loved the band when I was in high school as much as I do now, at nineteen I felt pretty old in there. Which is a great thing!
We got a very singles-light set from OM, which was absolutely fine but a bit surprising. No "Heimdalsgate", no "Id Engager", no "An Eluardian Instance", no "Wraith". It wasn't a big deal because I'm pretty sure I embarassed myself enough singing and dancing along to "Nonpareil of Favor" and "A Sentence of Sorts".
Did you see Janelle Monae's set? She's got quite a presence, and she really won over the indie-kid crowd , enough at least that a bunch of people were yelling to her equipment people after her set asking what her name was. She got a nice ovation when she came out to duet "Moonlight Daydream", which was a treat. Pretty excited for a full-length from her.
