What’s your stance on Liars, MP? I don’t remember it coming up before.

I think the new one is good, if not as focused as the older stuff. But I love the older stuff…

Ah, I think it’s fair to say that I like the new Liars album about ten hundred times more than the other Liars albums. I’d only ever liked “There’s Always Room On The Broom” and “Mr. You’re On Fire Mr.” before this one came out.

Not even the single version of “the Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack”? I’d think that would be your cup of tea…

Well, not to extend the point further than necessary, but if you haven’t heard the single mix of that song, you should give it a shot. They added a much more conventional rhythm section, and it ended up closer to a pop single than even anything on the new self titled.

Personally, I think Drum’s Not Dead is a pretty stunning album, but different drummers and all that.

liars go surf pop? we all own alot of pixies records but angus are you trying to make into the mainstream now? this has got to be the most conventional thing i’ve heard them play.
the best liars records are the ones with the worst reviews (ie. they were wrong so we drowned )

I loved Drum’s Not Dead a lot. I think it’s hilarious that they’ve decided to follow up with what basically amounts to an album with a bunch of disparate songs in the styles of different types of indie rock (I’d say this one is very Jesus & Mary Chain, and peg other ones and DFA1979, Beck, and Flaming Lips). And they’re so good at it!
