5. There was a woman to our left who was cracking me up because she'd start clapping at seemingly random points in the songs, and she was pretty much always off beat. BUY Imitrex Nasal Spray ONLINE NO PRESCRIPTION, She was so happy, though.

Spoon "Black Like Me" - For the first month that I knew this song, I didn't understand what Britt was singing. He garbles a lot of his words, and so the most crucial line in this song, and possibly in his entire discography gets a bit slurred: "I'm in need of someone to take care of me tonight." It's so perfect, so simple, so gutting. Then I noticed the name of the girl he keeps mentioning, and I realized that if this song came out three or four years ago, I wouldn't be able to handle it, and I would've had to have delete it from my computer to keep myself from listening to it. Even without any particular pain to hang it on, the song still manages to sting a bit. I listen to it over and over, and I zero in on the way he sounds so hopeful even though everything has gone wrong, and it's mostly his fault. He spins his pathetic situation into something romantic and weirdly dignified, and just as things seem to be looking up, the song suddenly cuts out, or passes out, or vanishes into the night. man, this is the way these things work with me. i showed up just as the first drops of rain were falling. i stood under a tree with some other people and it was fun for a minute. we all looked at the black sky and there was lightning and thunder. five minutes later it was as if i’d just jumped in the Hudson. it wasnt fun anymore. my fingers were pruning. i walked to the subway. when i got home it was still raining heavily and i thought there’s no way that show is happening. a while later it stopped raining. i was sitting in my steaming apartment and i got an odd feeling. the show was happening, i could feel it. and now i see i was right.

Sadly, the B-n-T dudes “dancing” next to me at the Mark Ronson show were not nearly as entertaining. Well, they were in a Night At The Roxbury kind of way (they would bob off the beat and then sync up with each other and then fucking freak out), which is only funny when doesn’t entail really, really gross drunk guys from Jersey with back hair RUBBING UP ON YOU and then spilling beer on your prettiest dress.

Fratty boys at Spoon, in my experience, also obvs. love “Way We Get By,” though. Anything that mentions drugs, you know. I’m glad, though, that you made it to that show. The weather was, indeed, wicked bad yesterday.

I may have been the woman clapping offbeat and VERY happy, although I was the last one on the left unless you were in VIP. Loved the show, especially Jonathan Fisk. Having seen Spoon more than 20 times going back to Brownies when they were a 3 piece, it’s so nice to hear some different arrangements! and gagaga is amazing!

I don’t like beer on my pretty dress either but I for one can’t stand still during Spoon and don’t understand whey more people DON’T dance (and neither does the band from what I have heard). I have taken up going to Bloc Party shows for just this reason…everyone dances, even to the pre band “pump up the jam” music.

I love Spoon and after a rather subdued, almost depressed Bowery show I am so happy to see Spoon alive and happy and riding the wave.

When are we gonna get a Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga album review?

Also, why all the hate for frat boys, and what makes someone a frat boy? Seems rather superficial, not that I don’t lapse into such branding from time to time. For the record, I take pride in wearing boat shoes amongst the cooler than thou indie kids.

It is true, Spoon shows are filled with frat dudes. I didn’t enjoy going ever since Kill the Moonlight anymore, so I stopped. They aren’t as good live anymore anyway. There’s always usually skanky dressed girls trying to get backstage or something too. ugh.

Oh in response, definition of fratboy at indie show:
stand in front of short girls without caring.
use their larger frames to get close to the front.
always yell requests betweens songs for the lamest songs off new album or songs everyone knows the artist will NOT play. yells it in your ear too!
usually is accompanied with a number of other like-minded individuals.

Essentially people who go to shows with no respect for other concert goers, or artists that don’t take requests or will never play whatever song.

So, you mean assholes, not guys that wear college intramurals shirts, because I know many a white-belter who’s pushed their way to the stage with little to no care for their surrounding spectators.

There was a fratty dude behind me at the Bowery show a few months back. At first this scared me, then halfway through the show I realized His Royal Frat’s attitude had created a ring of space around us, so I had plenty of room to groove. I shoulda hired him to be my bodyguard.

Hmmm… I also kinda love ‘I Summon You’. Didn’t know it was a prerequisite to be an asshole or a fratbrat to like it…;-) Either way I enjoy the fact that we don’t have the ‘fraternity/sorority’ thingtradition here in Norway.

Too bad, I was searching for audio of the show. Internet Archieve has some great downloads. I have a solo Brit Daniels show on my ipod from there and a shout out I got in San Fran last summer. I am dying to hear Jonathan Fisk with horns again!
