That is the single best insight to "Pig Lib" I've heard (well since the "beard rock" review anyways).

Warhol saying "I never really knew her" should make him sound like St. Peter, not Judas. And Jesus and St. Peter are ULTIMATELY friends. I'll only say it one more time: Get out your Bible, Queer Theory!

Matthew, do you think that Janet Weiss can turn Malkmus on to a producer who will record the next record as if it is a GUITAR ROCK ALBUM? This is the most important thing that can happen in the Solo Malkmus narrative. Janet Weiss could be like John the Baptiss!

Here I think of what Eleanor Roosevelt said about nobody being able to insult you without your permission.

One can make light of inaccuracies in the screenplay as far as "The Musician" and Andy Warhol go and it's understandable when documented.

Theorizing about homophobia beyond that insults gay people who don't suffer insecurity about their sexuality. At least not while watching movies. I guess that's the strongest subtext I pick up.

Needless to say, there are other theories out there for why Edie was motivated to push away from Warhol.

Yeah, but it doesn't mean that every writer and director is gay-friendly. And frankly, the disturbing subtext (or the straight-up text!) of the film is only more fascinating and worth examining if the filmmakers do not think of themselves as being hostile to queer artists.

Yeah, but it doesn't mean that every writer and director is gay-friendly. And frankly, the disturbing subtext (or the straight-up text!) of the film is only more fascinating and worth examining if the filmmakers do not think of themselves as being hostile to queer artists.

Apparently Factory Girl is terrible, but that Slate piece read like paranoia and a real reach to take the movie personally. I didn't notice anything else about his theory as stated.

It may be expedient to suggest it, but isn't Hollywood--TV and film--one of the gay-friendlier crowds around?
