A Crazy Energy Burning
Spektrum "May Day" - This is the sort of song that gives me trouble, at least in terms of writing for this site. It blows me away so much that I can't concentrate enough to string together any sort of blurb, even something sort of half-assed. When I'm hearing something this exciting, my thoughts are just a long string of exclamation points. It's so good that it just short-circuits my critical faculties altogether. This is the reason why when I go back through old entries, many of my favorite songs that I've ever posted here have relatively terrible write-ups. (Click here to buy it from Juno.)
The Research "I Love You, But..." - There's got to be thousands of songs that say more or less the same thing, but The Research cut straight to the point without dressing it up in bad poetry: "I love you, but I'm scared of fucking up." Still, that doesn't make it any easier on an emotional level - if anything, being so incredibly earnest and straightforward only sharpens the sting. (Click here to buy it from Amazon UK.)

Tell me what I’m missing. With Spektrum I’m hearing little more than an ordinary faux funk party tune. Nothing that a thousand bands haven’t knocked out in drunken encores for decades now.

I guess I’m the only one that prefers the ‘hey let’s write a song with this cheesy Casio’ track by The Research which, by the way, is frankly perfect for that mix CD for the disgruntled girlfriend… (better, at least, than Tiger Tunes’ “Kirsten is a Fuckmachine,” cough, cough).

As someone who has gotten the “I’m too fucked up to be with you” speech twice in the past year, I can’t help but love this track. I’ll add it to my personal soundtrack along with “Indie Boys Don’t Deserve It” (also courtesy of fluxblog).

ive been reading about and watching the news on new orleans the past few days, and ive seen a lot of louisiana license plates around these parts, what song would you recommend for a guy looking for a bit of hope?

Really dig the spektrum track!
Been trying to set up an iTunes playlist with hard pumped electro all weekend and that track fits in nicely for a more slow part of it that still doesn’t take the heat out of everything.
